Dental Care-50 was established in the Kansas City area in 1987. It offers a dental plan designed to meet the specific oral health care needs of adults over the age of 50.

Research indicates that adults over 50 are the one segment of the population most in need of oral health care, and yet least likely to have dental coverage. With the spiraling costs of dental care, this situation creates a serious financial problem for many people over 50.

Most companies do not provide dental coverage for retirees nor is coverage provided by Medicare. Individual dental insurance plans are very expensive, limited in coverage and confusing to use with many forms to complete, unexpected restrictions, waiting periods, co-payments, etc.

To meet this need for a usable and affordable dental care plan, Dental Care-50 contacted dentists who were equally concerned. Rather than see patients over 50 neglect their oral health, these dentists agreed to provide quality care at a greatly reduced cost to members of the Dental Care-50 Plan. Today, Dental Care-50 members can choose from a pool of some of the top general dentists and specialists in the Greater Kansas City Metro Area.
